"WATER TALKS"

The Gafney is working with The Acton Wakefield Watershed Alliance (AWWA) and the Acton Town Library (ME) this spring to launch a series of four “Water Talks,” by experts in their fields.

Following the successful talk on eagles, and then the American Eel, "Water Talks" will continue with Harry Vogel, biologist at the Loon Preservation Committee in Moultonborough, who will present “Celebrating the Loon: 40 Years of Loon Preservation in NH.

Local artist Maureen McCarthy, well known for her paintings of loons, will exhibit her work at this talk.  Join us on Wednesday, May 23rd at 2:00 PM in the  Wakefield Opera House,

Find the dates, times and locations for the three other talks, here.

ANNUAL APPEAL IN PROGRESS

We could use your help!

A common misperception is that the Gafney is owned by the Town of Wakefield.  Though the Gafney serves the Towns of Wakefield and Brookfield, it is a private, non profit 501(c)(3) organization and as such the Board of Trustees is responsible for raising about 10% of the operating expenses internally.  To raise a portion of this income the Board conducts an Annual Appeal which begins in November.  This year's Annual Appeal goal is $12,000. Other fundraisers are held throughout the year.

Now you can contribute to the Gafney Annual Appeal here, using a credit or debit card and PayPal. Click on the DONATE button above and complete your contribution.  Alternatively, checks may be made out to Gafney Library and mailed to PO Box 517, Sanbornville, NH 03872 or dropped off during open hours.

Thank you!!
