Are you curious about the critters that call the Granite State home? Join a Squam Lakes Natural Science Center naturalist to meet wild animals that you could encounter in our forests, fields, or wetlands. Discover what makes them well-suited for surviving in the natural communities they inhabit.

Join the Wakefield-Brookfield Historical Society and Gafney Library as they present, Hidden History of Lake Winnipesauke. 
Thought you knew all there was to know about the "Big Lake"? Think again! Lake Winnipesaukee's history goes well beyond the boating and other recreational-related activities we think of today. Join Glenn as he reveals the many facets of this history, including the real story about “America’s Oldest Summer Resort” in Wolfeboro, the religious sect on Gilford’s Governors Island who thought the world was ending, Massachusetts’ early efforts to claim New Hampshire territory as their own, the site of the country’s first college sports rivalry in Center Harbor, the African American community that once existed in Gilmanton, and the only airport of its kind in the entire country in Alton.  Whether you live in the area, are a visitor from elsewhere in the Granite State, or are a summer resident or tourist, these fascinating and enlightening bits of history will change forever how you view New Hampshire’s "Big Lake."

Meet Snoopy, the rabbit! After reading a story with Snoopy, youths will get to use their own imaginations to create something for Snoopy out of a cardboard box!

Lust For Life (Rated TV-PG), with Kirk Douglas who plays Vincent van Gogh and Anthony Quinn who plays Paul Gauguin.

Popcorn will be provided.  

Once a month, September - December, 2025, a Community Resource Coordinator from Tri-County CAP will be spending a Friday at the library to meet with anyone who may have questions or need assistance with services.

Some services they can help with is fuel assistance, transportation, housing, free diaper program, free winter clothing and more.

No appointment is needed, just stop by the library during the date and time of visit.

Everyone is welcome as we celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Program! We will be having a community tie dye event, in which we will supply the t-shirts and the equipment - you assist with the FUN! If you would like to bring your own shirt to tie dye, that's ok too!
