HiSET High School Equivalency Testing

The Gafney Library is an official HiSET testing center.

The HiSET (HighSchool Equivalency Test) is a test you can take to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) credential. Testing is administered on the 3rd Thursday of each month year-round. You must be New Hampshire residents to take the test.

We currently only offer paper tests but will be introducing computer-based testing in the summer of 2025.

About High School Equivalency

Just like the GED, passing the HiSET exam will earn you a state-issued high school equivalency credential. The HSE credential is just like a high school diploma. It is accepted everywhere, in every state, and by the federal government (including the US Military and the US Department of Labor Job Corps Program). It also qualifies you to apply for federal student aid, including grants, loans, and work-study funds.
